Press Credential Request Form

Submit completed form to: gfirst@us-cert.gov

Credentials must be requested for each representative from your organization, including photographers. Submitting the registration request does not automatically qualify applicants for a valid accreditation.

Registration Criteria
Members of the working media will be required to supply one of the following materials at registration in order to receive press accreditation to the conference. Addition to conference events activities and facilities will only be granted to journalist with proper identification.

Staff Journalists from News Gathering Organizations: Be prepared to submit a copy of a valid Press Credential or provide a copy of the journalist’s/photojournalist’s business card or a copy of a current masthead clearly displaying their name and editorial title or an industry-related article written by the journalist within the last six months.

Freelance Journalists and Photojournalists: Submit a letter (on letterhead) from an editorial contact at the publication indicating that the journalist/photojournalist is covering the conference and exhibition for that publication. Please fax letter to: GFIRST at 703-235-5963

Analysts: Provide a copy of your business card with name, title, and analyst firm logo, as well as a copy of a relevant research report or briefing published within the last year that clearly displays your authorship.

Please note that the following groups are not eligible for media badges--no exceptions:
  • Production companies
  • Marketing and public relations professionals
  • Personal / non-commercial news website writers
  • All others not included above in the guidelines do not qualify as media.
We reserve the right to limit the press attendance from individual organizations.

WASHINGTON, DC—The US Computer Emergency Readiness Team has announced the following information for media wishing to attend the GFIRST (Government Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams) Cyber Security Conference to be held on June 2–6, 2008, in Orlando, Florida.

GFIRST Conference organizers welcome the working media to attend this fourth annual cyber security summit, which brings together more than 500 attendees from the information security and information technology fields, as well as trade associations, government, homeland security, and the law enforcement community.

This year’s gathering, entitled “Uniting the Cyber Response Community,” seeks to identify and improve information gathering and dissemination techniques, demonstrate proven information exchange methodologies, and provide superior training to incident responders, CISOs, and other important players in the cyber security field.

Guidelines for Working Media
GFIRST organizers want to make the attendance of credentialed working media as productive as possible. The GFIRST Conference communications support team will work closely with news gathering organizations and reporters to ensure timely access to materials and events during the Conference’s duration.

Media Credentials
Credentials are required for access to the conference venue. Credentials must be applied for via fax at 703-235-5963. (Information on credentialing requirements can be found at the end of this advisory.)

Picking up Media Credentials
Members of the media are encouraged to pick up credentials as soon as they arrive at the Caribe Royale Hotel. Credentials will be available for pick-up at the GFIRST Registration Desk during Conference registration hours, beginning June 2, 2007.

Credentialing Guidance
Submitting the registration request does not automatically qualify you for a press badge. US-CERT reserves the right to deny any applicant a press badge.

  • Consultants:
    • Submit a letter from a recognized trade publication—on their letterhead and signed by an editor—stating that you are contracted to cover the conference and exhibition for that publication.
    • Please fax letter to (703) 235-5963.
